To treat a customer like this when you have no visitors and it isn't exactly a popular attraction, the Smith Tower needs to sack this guy.Contemporary interiors, luxury amenities, and an incredible location: you can have it all at 160 Smith. It was more the way this guy approached the issue. What sort of place requires you to present yourself for clearance before you buy a ticket? How ridiculous. There are no bag checks required, nor is there any signage saying you need to stop at some random podium that was not marked and wasn't even manned when I arrived. A decent person wouldn't have gone off and yelled at me to begin with when I was not even doing anything wrong.Įven if I hadn't yet bought a ticket and completed my visit, and walked passed and went straight to the girl selling the tickets, what is the problem? You had 1 visitor in 2 hours and including the couple who had yet to buy a ticket, I saw a total of 4 others in a 40 mins stay. Clearly knowing he did the wrong thing and didn't even apologise like a decent person would have. He then shut up and put his head down and when I left he kept his head down as well. Before I could say something the girl who was selling the tickets stopped him from yelling further (that is how far she could hear and how loud he was), and told him that I came earlier. I walked past him and he rudely yelled at me asking me to stop and line up behind the couple he was talking to, and that I am not allowed to proceed further without going past him. He was talking to some other visitors and there was no signage there anyway. He wasn't there when I came to buy my ticket. I proceeded to open the entrance door and there was a small podium there with a short man with long hair and glasses - I was unable to get his name. It's just a different view here.Īll the staff were very nice and friendly except one rude man which is why I took one star off otherwise it would have been 5 stars hands down.Īfter I went back downstairs, I wanted to visit the gift shop but I was told by security I needed to exit the building and then enter through the main ticketing entrance again. ![]() The Space Needle and Columbia Centre obviously offers much more broader encompassing views around the city but I couldn't see Mount Rainier from those observation decks. The tower isn't as high as the others and you only go up there to get a view of the mountain ranges and a bit of the nearby city towers. I do understand though why it may not be so popular. I was very glad to have seen such a clear view of this today. ![]() I had gone to Mount Rainier National Park for some hiking a few days beforehand and it was foggy and I didn't get to see the mountain on the drive up and back. The views of the Cascade Mountains and Mount Rainier were so clear and beautiful. It was so very peaceful and it was a lovely day. It was very quiet and I only saw two other people during my visit up there. I was in the area and had some spare time and decided to go up and I am very glad I did. People seem to sway towards the Space Needle and to the Columbia Centre. ![]() When I was doing my Seattle sightseeing research, this was not originally on my list as it wasn't very popular with people and no one seemed to really recommend it. They opened at 11am and I arrived around 1pm and they told me I was the first person to go up to the Observatory.
